Another successful year at the UKRO 2018 National Challenge for DS Medical
DS Medical recently attended this year’s UKRO (United Kingdom Rescue Organisation) event as sponsors for the third year running as well as supporting the Hampshire Extrication & Trauma Team from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
UKRO is a charitable organisation dedicated to improving rescue standards throughout the UK. The rescue organisation focuses on reducing the number of road deaths through vehicle extrication as well as showcasing other rescue disciplines including trauma, line rescue and urban search and rescue (USAR). This year the event was hosted by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
The UKRO National Challenge is a great opportunity for emergency service personnel to demonstrate their skills and share techniques in the following emergency care categories:
- Vehicle Extrication
- Trauma Care
- Urban Search and Rescue (USAR)
- Rope Rescue
- Water Rescue

The UKRO challenge has helped with the improvement of rescue standards and technical abilities within fire, rescue and medical professions. This year over five hundred firefighters, divided into their teams, competed against each other for national titles. Additionally, competitors and service personnel were given the opportunity to take part in education workshops and other training events which provided added value for all those who attended.
It was great to see so much interest in our wide range of products especially the 5.11 Tactical range, Saviour Medical Technical Rescue Stretcher, and the Immediate Emergency Care Medical Response Bag.

Managing Director, Richard Bourke said “We are extremely proud to have sponsored Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Extrication and Trauma Team for the third year running. The team always give their best and are an excellent example of the additional skills firefighters can bring to their local communities and in support of the high-utilised statutory ambulance services”.
